About Us!

Dark Leaf Farm is a 3rd generation, diversified, family-owned farm located in Appomattox and Campbell Counties of Virginia. The farm includes Bruce and Joanne Jones as well as their 4 children Bruce, Savannah, Colton and Blake. The farm currently raises wheat, corn, soybeans, strawberries and blackberries. Joanne coined the farm name to recognize the long history of Bruce’s parents and grandparents raising high quality Virginia Dark-fired tobacco. The farm’s heritage also included flue-cured and burley tobacco which made it unique in not only Virginia, but also the nation. Joanne additionally transitioned a portion of the farm into the organic production of flue-cured tobacco. The labor-intensive nature of tobacco production and yearly contract uncertainty led Joanne to examine options to transition the farm in a new direction. Pumpkins and agritourism.

For the past decade, Bruce and Joanne have enjoyed allowing everyone to come out and share their passion and enjoyment of the farm environment. Dark Leaf Farm offers fun-filled activities for the whole family. Dark Leaf farm is open mid-September till October 31st for pumpkins. In May for Strawberries and June for blackberries.
